With an eye
toward upcoming changes to the junior-year Jewish History curriculum,
the class of 2005 organized the commemoration of Yom HaShoah, leaving
a model for future planners who will not be taking the traditional
Holocaust and the Establishment of the State of Israel

After Judaics
Coordinator Yoram Bar-Noy announced his move to the Lower School
for the upcoming school year, Rabbi Avi Weinstein was appointed
to take over the position once he leaves.

plans to gain accreditation from MSA
The Middle States
Association (MSA), which grants accreditation to high schools and
colleges worldwide, will visit CES JDS in the spring of 2005 as
part of the schools application for renewal of accreditation,
which occurs every ten years.

Nearly a year
into new courses that involve non-Jewish religions, some have questioned
the appropriateness of teaching such material.
Hidden
GEMS
Two juniors
worked over the past four months to publish Hidden GEMS: One
Hand, One Heart, a literary magazine providing homeless people
with a means of expressing themselves and their talents.
Parents,
students sought out to aid 'Free the Slaves' campaign
A new campaign
to educate about slavery around the world was started by Middle
School Director Joan Vander Walde and is now led by a group of students,
the Student Council and the middle school Knesset.
