BVB finds success with
new head coach Entering this season with a new head coach and many new players on the team, the boys varsity baseball team will have to continue playing to its utmost potential in order to maintain the early season success they have had, after a 5-2 record in the PVAC. Fueled by a strong defense and a strong core of returning players, the middle school softball team begins its season with the highest of expectations.
The girls varsity softball team looks to develop through hard work and commitment, ultimately hoping to win the championship in addition to having fun and making new friends.
Under the guidance of new coach Mark Purpura, the boys middle school baseball team will attempt to overcome last season’s championship loss through aggressive base running and good contact hitting.
Coming off of a championship season, the boys varsity tennis team looks to its leaders for motivation and commitment. After a rough start this season, with a 3-0 opening loss against the Hebrew Academy Cougars on March 21, the boys varsity volleyball team has bounced back, achieving a 3-4 record after seven games. “This team, as a whole is very young, and practices have been spent working on basic fundamentals such as serving and attacking,” said Head Coach Christian Citarella.
Strong start for track and field This year’s track team has a new head coach and a new attitude that will lead it to achieve its goals of constant improvement and victory throughout the season.
Senior Gabe Dymond played in the D.C. Metro Classic held at American University’s Bender Arena on March 27. The game showcases talented area high school players who must be nominated to play.
As the girls varsity tennis team kicks off the season, it has the leadership, talent and coaching that are all necessary ingredients for a great team.
